In your child's homework folder you will find their first Interim Report for the year. Please review it, sign the envelope, and return it by Monday. I will be starting conferences next week. Please advise what day/time is convenient for you via email and I will try to accommodate you. We may also have a phone conference if you are unable to meet with me at school.
I apologize, but I forgot to distribute Friday Folders today. I will make sure they go home on Monday.
Homework this weekend is to work on i-Ready, reading. Math has to be done during school hours (something new that I just figured out why students haven't been able to log in from home). I have assigned a lesson on i-Ready reading that will help them with their upcoming test on Monday, September 28th. Please make sure they complete. Our test will include character traits, character motivations, vocabulary, and compare and contrasting two passages. I also assigned a Current Event, but it is not due until Wednesday. Remember that there are websites on this blog your child may use! Just scroll down about 3 weeks! Some students have an additional science assignment, since it was not completed during centers in class.
Some students took their AR quiz today on the chapter book we have been reading in class. Others said they wanted extra time to read at home. On Monday, everyone will have to have the AR quiz completed. You may access the book, The Case of the Gasping Garbage, on our ReadyGen website! (see Reading tab)
If you would like to order books from Scholastic, please visit: www.scholastic.com/readingclub and enter our class code: H2WYR
Check out the yellow flyer that went home today! I would love to have 100% participation from my class!
The Relay for Life team at Central Middle is sponsoring a fundraiser "Fighting Cancer from Head to Toe". We are asking that students either bring in cute crazy socks to donate, or $2.00 by 9/30. The socks will be donated to Joe DiMaggio's Children Pediatric Cancer Center and the funds will be donated to PPCMS Relay for Life which will be in turn donated to the American Cancer Society. Lotsy Dotsy, the Joe DiMaggio Clown, asked our team to provide children with adorable socks; children get cold during surgery and treatment. A cute/crazy pair of socks helps. Remember that little feet also need socks.
Thank you, and have a great weekend!
